Club DevelopmentCLUB LEGACY 2014 - Supporting Athletics Clubs in Scotland Athletics in Scotland has a simple vision: Increase the numbers of people participating in our sport, and improve the performance of those with talent and aptitude to do so. The vision set out in the National Strategy for Athletics (November, 2010) clearly states that a renaissance of athletics in Scotland should be achieved through developing strong, vibrant, family clubs at the core of their communities, amongst other objectives.
We firmly believe that this environment can, and will be created through focusing our work on supporting clubs and coaches in particular, through the development and creation of several national development programmes. In particular, our work will be underpinned through the National Club Development Programme, Club Legacy 2014. Club Legacy 2014 is a dynamic, innovative and world-leading club development programme that will ensure we support Scotland’s network of athletics clubs to grow and raise standards that will deliver improved opportunities in communities across Scotland. The Club Legacy 2014 programme consists of the following components and projects and should be viewed as a menu of opportunities which athletics clubs can access:
The attached document provides an overview of the opportunities for clubs through the Club Legacy 2014 programme and detailed information on each project can be found by following the links. This is just a starting point and more information and resources will be added over the coming weeks and months.
