Officiating
scottishathletics has a proud tradition of developing volunteers to become top level officials at all levels, supporting UKA in delivering a wide and diverse range of events throughout the year. Glasgow 2014 offers athletics and our officials an opportunity to assist in the delivery of the Commonwealth Games 2014. Officials are trained volunteers and give their time to allow the athletes realise their ambitions on the track, field, road and cross-country, without these dedicated individuals our sport could not exist. scottishathletics and the Officials Commission are working in partnership to help develop the next generation of volunteer officials, offering training and support to all volunteers. Being an official in athletics offers so much more than just measuring timing etc. there are a number of social events as well and the feeling of being part of the larger athletics family. Athletics meetings simply could not take place without the sure guidance of qualified officials. Starters, track judges, timekeepers, field judges, photo finish operators, administration officials, marshals, course setters and course measurers, photo-finish personnel ensure the smooth progression of each meeting for the benefit of athletes and spectators alike. Working in a voluntary capacity, it can be an enormously rewarding way of spending your spare time, be it officiating at a local road race or at major international track and field championships. To find out more about becoming a qualified official, please take time to have a look at the courses hosted by scottishathletics below. If you're interested in getting involved as an official, please contact: officiating@scottishathletics.org.uk
ALL current officials should have a look at their personal profile on the UKA database (Trinity). All officials should have received a login and password from UKA to allow them access HERE. scottishathletics would ask all officials to check their personal details and ensure that the information is correct, if you need to edit any information, click on the pencil in the top right hand corner. Please ensure that the country says SCOTLAND and not United Kingdom. If for any reason you are unable to access the database, please contact scottishathletics on the email address above.
